Debating Slavery : Economy and Society in the Antebellum American South (Hardcover)

감각을 연구하는 사학자. 영국 사우샘프턴 대학교에서 학사 학위, 사우스캐롤라이나 대학교에서 석사와 박사 학위를 취득했다. 2010년 현재 사우스캐롤라이나 대학교 사학과의 수훈교수로 재직 중이다. 《The Journal of Southern History》 《The Journal of Social History》 등 감각사와 사회사에 관한 각종 저널의 편집위원으로 활동하고 있으며 유럽·호주·중국 등지에서 강연을 펼쳤다. 또한 《뉴욕타임스》 《런던타임스》 등에 글을 기고하고 있다. 저서로는 『Listening to Nineteenth-Century America』 『How Race Is Made: Slavery, Segregation, and the Senses』 등이 있다.
