한영불교대사전

received his doctorate from the department of Comparative Literature at SUNY Stony Brook in 1993. He is presently Professor in the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology, University of Tokyo. His main work lies in the fields of Korean Buddhism, East Asian Yog?c?ra, East Asian classical lexicography, and online scholarly resource development. Among his major book-length works are The S?tra of Perfect Enlightenment: Korean Buddhism's Guide to Meditation (SUNY Press, 1999) and W?nhyo's Philosophy of Mind(University of Hawai'i Press, 2012). He has also published over two dozen articles on Korean and East Asian Buddhism. He is the editor and primary translator of three volumes published in the Collected Works of Korean Buddhism, and is the Publication Chairman for the Numata BDK sutra translation project. Among the online digital projects he has initiated are the Digital Dictionary of Buddhism (http://www.buddhism-dict.net/ddb), the CJKV-English Dictionary, the H-Buddhism Buddhist Scholars Information Network, and recently, the H-Buddhism Bibliography Project.

고려대학교 법학과를 졸업하고, 동국대학교 대학원 불교학과를 수료하였다. 현재 한국불교번역연구원(KIBET)의 책임자로 불교 영역 및 통역 사업과 국제학술대회 등의 기획에 주력하고 있다. 2002년 창립된 국제불교문화사상사학회의 연구원으로 일해 왔으며, 동 학회에서 발간하고 있는 국내 최초 영문 불교 학술 잡지인 the International Journal of Buddhist Thought & Culture의 편집위원으로 활동하고 있다. 또한 뮬러(Muller) 교수와 함께 인터넷 디지털 불교전문 사전인 the Digital Dictionary of Buddhism의 공저자로 활동하면서 영문 불교용어 통일화 활동에 진력하고 있다. 저서로는 [코리아타임스] 기획기사로 연재한 후 2010년 G-20 정상회담의 한국문화 안내 자료로 만든 the Colors of Korean Buddhism 등이 있다.
