Chemical reaction이 일어날 때 reaction(반응)을 하는 substance(물질)와 produce(생성)되는 substance를 chemical formula(화학식)로 represent(나타내다)한 것을 chemical equation(화학반응식, 화학방정식)이라고 한다. Chemical equation은 reaction equation(반응식, 화학반응식)이라고도 한다.
Chemical equation에서 가장 중요한 것은 arrow(화살표)이다. Arrow를 경계로 left hand side(왼쪽)는 reactant(반응물, 반응물질), right hand side는 product(생성물, 생성물질)를 denote(의미)한다. 특히 double arrow(양방향 화살표)는 forward reaction(정반응)과 reverse reaction(역반응)이 동시에 일어나는 reversible reaction(가역반응)을 represent하는 것으로 chemical equilibrium(화학 평형)을 explain(설명)할 때 쓴다.
In a chemical reaction, the joining together of two or more elements results in the formation of a chemical bond between atoms and causes the formation of a new substance. As substances bond or break together, they either release or consume energy. A chemical equation is the shorthand that scientists use to describe a chemical reaction.
Example 2 Which one is not an explanation of Bohr's atomic model?
a. Electrons orbit around the atomic nucleus in a circular motion.
b. The further electron shell from nucleus, the higher energy level it has.
c. An electron absolves energy when it transit to inner shell that is closer to nucleus.
d. When an electron transits, the light energy absolved or released is decided depends on the differences between the two shell's energy level.
