Time(시간)이라는 개념은 length(길이) 및 mass(질량)와 함께 physical unit(물리 단위)을 구성하는 basic unit(기본 단위)이다. Time은 second(초)와 minute(분), 그리고 hour(시간)를 이용해 physical quantity(물리량)를 나타낸다. Classical physics(고전물리학)에서 time이란 three-dimensional space(3차원 공간)에서 일어나는 physical phenomenon(물리적 현상)을 설명하기 위해 도입한 parameter(매개변수)이다. Physical principle(물리법칙)에 의해 입증되는 natural phenomenon(자연현상)이 존재할 경우, 그 phenomenon(현상)이 반복되는 주기를 가지고 physical time(물리적 시간)을 정한다. 예를 들어, 지구의 rotation(자전)이 physical phenomenon이라면 mean solar time(평균태양시)의 second와 second 사이의 간격이 physical time이 된다. _본문 14쪽 basic concept 중에서
Although time is a difficult concept to define, it is the most accurately measured physical quantity. A measurement of time assigns a unique number to either an epoch or a time interval. An epoch specifies the moment when an instantaneous event occurs, while a time interval refers to the duration of a continued event. Time can also be measured using the progress of any phenomenon that undergoes regular changes. _본문 19쪽 reading physics 중에서
Example 1 The graph represents the positions of objects A and B which move on the same straight line. Choose all correct answers that explain the movement of A and B between 0 and 20 seconds.
a. A shows uniform motion while B shows accelerated motion.
b. Travelled distance of B is bigger than A.
c. Average speed of A and B are same.
