반쪽자리 안중근 연구에 가로지름이 될 국내 최초 안중근 자료집의 탄생 2014년 11권, 2016년 7권을 낸 후 꾸준한 연구와 책임감으로 2017년 9권을 출간하게 되었다. 먼저 18, 19, 20권에는 국내외 안중근 관련 보도의 원천기사인 『도쿄 아사히신문』을 나눠 실었다. 조선말 일제 최초의 일본어 신문인 『조선신문』은 21, 22, 23권에 담았다. 『조선신문』은 『도쿄 아사히신문』 등과 비교하여 보다 과격한 논조를 보이고 있는 것은 사실이나 국내 일본인들의 성향을 반영한 것으로 해석된다. 특히 안중근의거에 대한 국내의 열렬한 반응을 엿볼 수 있다. 24권에 모은 『황성신문』은 안중근의거를 긍정적으로 평가하였다고 볼 수는 없다. 이에 대해 분명 한계를 지적할 수 있지만 『황성신문』 본문의 이른바 ‘벽돌’ 표시로 대표되는 일제의 언론탄압이 작용하였다는 측면도 함께 봐야 한다. 『황성신문』은 『대한매일신보』에 비해 자세하지 않지만 안중근의거를 보도함으로써 안중근과 그의 의거를 이해하는 데 도움을 주었다. 27권에 실은 『대한매일신보』는 일제의 탄압이 가중되는 상황 속에서도 안중근을 전면에 내세워 일제에 저항하였을 뿐만 아니라, 안중근을 국내외에 정확하게 인식시키는 데 큰 역할을 하였다는 점에서 높이 평가된다. 29권에 담긴 『신한민보』는 안중근의거의 국제적 영향, 한국민족운동에 끼친 영향 등을 엿볼 수 있는 역사사료로 가치가 크다. 특히 『신한민보』를 발행한 주체인 국민회의 탄생에 안중근의거가 하나의 큰 배경이 되었다는 사실에서 안중근과 그의 의거가 미주한인사회에 어떤 의미였는지 가늠할 수 있다. 많은 관계 자료의 수집과 섭렵이 종합적으로 이루어졌고 다루어 볼 만한 가치가 있는 자료들을 한곳에 모았다. 체계적으로 나누어진 각 권수 안에는 원본 사료, 원본을 그대로 옮겨 적어 쉽게 연구할 수 있도록 만든 탈초본, 그 탈초본과 똑같은 순서와 편집으로 구성된 번역본까지 들어있다. 이 자료집이 안중근의 전체상을 구축하는 중요한 퍼즐 역할을 할 수 있기를 바라며 완간을 목표로 계속해서 세상에 내보낼 예정이다.
