Franco Fontana is undoubtedly one of the most renowned Italian photographers, unanimously considered as the pioneer of color photography. During the 1970s he was able to fully exploit the inner potentialities of color photography through photos which might be situated beetween representation and abstraction. His daring sense of color and his skillfulness with composition gave him the opportunity to create unforgettable images that are universally praised.

"These photographs are taken from my sketchbooks of visual notes in which are collected my daily 'exercises.' From these images I have chosen those that convey the freshness present in things in their new born state, and that could represent directions for further investigations to take which remain full of potential." La actual exposicion en el Ivam se presenta como una amplia retrospectiva de su obra,139 instantaneas (109 fotografias y 30 polaroids) que siguiendo criterios historicos y tematicos nos permiten conocer su trabajo .
