왜 다시 at, in, on의 연구가 필요한가? 이 세 불변사는 내가 적어도 두 번에 걸쳐 발표를 했다. 그러나 발표를 하고 나서 돌아서면 곧 부족한 점이 생각나고, 좀 더 잘 제시해야겠다는 생각이 들었다. 이것이 첫째 이유이고, 둘째는 영어를 배우는 한국어 학습자들에게 이 세 불변사를 정확하게 구별해서 쓰는 것이 쉽지 않다고 생각되어 이 책을 쓰게 되었다. 같은 불변사를 여러 번 발표했으나, 똑같이 발표하지 않았다. 서로 다른 각도에서 새로운 예문을 가리고, 발표하는 것이므로 이 책을 통해서 이 세 불변사의 이해가 더 깊어질 수 있기를 바란다.
