The project of Central Public Library of Milan aims to look through history and understand how the cultural system progressed and evolved alongside the urban development, as the new design should visually harmonize the urban context, and has connection with existing old city library of Palazzo Sormani, which was inaugurated in 1956 through the reconstruction and restoration of the prestigious XVI - XVIII century residence, led by the architect Arrigo Arrighetti.
