2007년과 2008년 Thomas Myers를 한국에 초청하여 세미나를 개최한 이후 지금까지 마이어가 저술한 Anat-omy Trains 2판, 3판, 4판, Body3을 번역하며 Anatomy Trains를 깊이 있게 공부할 수 있는 기회가 주어졌다. Anatomy Trains 책 1판을 처음 접했을 때 눈이 번쩍 뜨일 정도로 신선한 충격으로 다가왔고 근근막 경선의 세계에 새로운 지평을 열어 주었다 생각한다. 판이 개정될수록 근근막(myofascia)과 연관된 점점 더많은 정보가 첨가되었고 임상 적용 분야도 점점 확대되었다. 이번 개정 4판은 독자들의 이해를 한층 돕기 위해 3판에서보다 좀 더 자세히 기술하였으며, 최근 연구를 통해밝혀진 내용도 부록에 많이 첨부되었다. 또한 처음으로 개와 말의 근근막 경선에 대한 자료도 부록에 첨부되었으며, 3판과 4판에 실린 동일한 해부학 사진이나 그림도 조금 다른 각도에서 설명하여 저자의 생각이나 개념의 변화, 방향성을 간접적으로나마 유추해볼 수 있었다. 또한 필라테스 부분도 요약하여 새롭게 첨가되었고, Body Reading 부분도 많이 보강되었다. 나름 이해하기 쉽게 평이한 단어를 사용하여 번역하려 많은 노력을 기울였고 마이어가 표현하는 비유나 구어체적인 용어를 직역하려 한 부분에서는 우리말과 약간 어색한 부분도 있겠지만 문맥의 흐름과 이해에는 문제가 거의없으리라 생각한다. 혹 이해의 부족으로 원치 않게 오역이있거나 역자가 사용하는 우리말의 한정으로 좀 더 좋은 표현이 되지 않았다면 추후 재 인쇄시 수정, 첨가할 것을 말씀드린다. 지난 영어 원문 3판에서 몇 곳의 오류는 이번 4판에서교정되었으나, 이번 4판에 영어 원문에도 오류가 있음을 여기서 밝혀두며, 검증을 거쳐 교정하여 번역하였다. 번역을 함에 있어 시리악스 정형의학 연구회 동학 선생님들과의 학문적 교류가 많은 도움이 되었으며 이 면을 빌려 감사의 말씀을 드린다. 역자 김 성 환 D.C.
