캐슬린 린치는 더블린대학교 평등학 교수이며 아일랜드 학술원 중견회원이다. 이론가이자 실천가로서 린치 교수는 학술연구의 목적은 단순히 세상을 이해하는 데 그치는 것이 아니라 인류의 공공선을 위해 세상을 변화시키는 것이라는 신념을 가지고 있다. 이를 위해 1990년 더블린대학교에 평등연구센터를 설립하는 데 주도적인 역할을 했고, 2005년에는 사회정의학부를 만들었다. 또한 돌봄, 젠더, 정의 간의 관계와 같은 평등과 사회정의 이슈에 관해 광범위한 저술, 강연 및 캠페인 활동을 전개했다. 많은 저서를 출간했는데, 2015년에 버니 그룸멜(Bernie Grummell), 딤프나 더바인(Dympna Devine)과 공동으로 펴낸 《교육과 신관리주의: 상업화, 돌봄부재, 젠더(New Managerialism in Education: Commercialisation, Carelessness and Gender)》는 고등교육의 문제를 사회정의의 관점에서 비판한 저서로 주목받고 있다.
