펜실베이니아 주립대학교 인류학과 교수이자 학과장인 니나 자블론스키는 인류 및 비인간 영장류의 환경에 대한 진화적 적응을 연구해온 탁월한 생물인류학자이자 고생물학자로, 특히 오랫동안 연구에 열정을 쏟아온 인간 피부와 피부색의 진화에 관한 최고의 권위자이다. 미국과학진흥협회와 캘리포니아학술원 회원인 그는 《최초의 아메리카인The First Americans: The Pleistocene Colonization of the New World》, 《언어의 다양화Diversification of Language》 등 다수의 저술을 출간했다. 인간 피부에 관한 저자의 연구는 《내셔널 지오그래픽National Geographic》, 《사이언티픽 아메리칸Scientific American》 등 저명한 잡지에서 특집으로 다루었다.
