스탠퍼드대학교(Stanford University)의 고고학자이자 교수이다. 그는 자동차의 과거, 현재, 미래를 연결하기 위한 스탠퍼드의 ‘더 레브 프로그램(The Revs Program)’의 공동 책임자로, 과거 스탠퍼드 인문학 연구소(Stanford Humanities Lab)의 공동 책임자 를 맡기도 했다. 스탠퍼드 디스쿨(d.school) 하소플래트너디자인연구소(Hasso Plattner Institute) 및 CARS(Center for Automotive Research at Stanford, 스탠퍼드 자동차 연구 센터)와 연계하고 있다. 스탠퍼드 고고학 센터에 있는 그의 연구소는 ‘메타미디어(Metamedia)’ 라고 불린다.
