How Ancient Europeans Saw the World: Vision, Patterns, and the Shaping of the Mind in Prehistoric Times (Hardcover)

미국 미네소타주 소재 미네소타대학교 인류학 교수이다. 그는 미국 하버드대학교와 독일 튀빙겐대학교에서 공부하고 석·박사 학위를 받았다. 연구 분야는 온대 유럽의 청동기 및 철기시대이며, 남부 독일 바이에른의 하셔켈러(Hascherkeller) 와 켈하임(Kelheim) 유적 등을 발굴했다. 현장 조사 결과에 대한 결과를 토대로 여러 편의 논문을 발표하고 책을 출판했다. 대표적인 저서로는 The Barbarians Speak: How the Conquered Peoples Shaped Roman Europe (Princeton, 1999), The Battle that Stopped Rome: Emperor Augustus, Arminius, and the Slaughter of the Legions in the Teutoburg Forest (Norton , 2003), Image and Response in Early Europe (Duckworth, 2008.), How Ancient Europeans Saw the World: Vision, Patterns, and the Shaping of the Mind in Prehistoric Times (Princeton, 2012.)가 있다. 또한 유럽의 철기시대 지침서인 The Oxford Handbook of the European Iron Age을 공동으로 편집했다.
