1963년 미국 캘리포니아대학교 버클리캠퍼스에서 수학 석사 학위를 받았다. 그 이후부터 미국 일리노이대학교 어배너-샴페인(이하 UIUC)에서 미적분학, 이산수학, 선형대수학, 공학수학 등을 강의하였으며, 현재는 은퇴하였다.
