Etty Hillesum: An Interrupted Life and Letters from Westerbork (Paperback)

작가이자 학자다. 그녀의 유태인 부모가 홀로코스트에서 살아난 후 1945년 폴란드에서 태어난 호프만은 10대 시절에 가족과 함께 캐나다로 이주하였다. 미국 라이스 대학을 졸업하고 하버드대학에서 영문학 박사학위를 받았다. 그녀는 컬럼비아 대학, 미네소타 대학과 터프츠대학등 등 다양한 기관에서 문학과 창작 관련 교수로 재직하고 있으며 “The Book Review”와 뉴욕 타임즈의 편집자로 일했다. <Lost in Translation: Life in a New Language(1989)>, <Exit into History: A Journey Through the New Eastern Europe(1993)>, <Shtetl: The Life and Death of a Small Town and the World of Polish Jews(1997)>, <The Secret: A Novel(2002)>, <After Such Knowledge: Memory, History and the Legacy of the Holocaust(2004)> <Illuminations.
