책 소개

Editor in chief Amy Astley has revolutionized AD, and the interior design world, with her emphasis on how home is about the people who live there. Her favorite stories from the last ten years—of the unique homes, interiors, and lifestyles of some of the most creative and important people of our time—will inspire every design-conscious homeowner.

The leading design authority for the last century, AD under Astley is more popular and far-reaching than ever before, featuring a wide range of styles and tastemakers and helping to personalize interior design for us all. This book showcases highly original interiors and the personality and creativity of the bold-faced names who live in them.

Spanning the worlds of fashion, music, film, art, and design, the people inhabiting these pages come from around the globe, showing us there are so many ways to create a beautiful home. The interiors encompass different milieus and styles, from city to country, classical to bohemian, modern to old world, including art-filled urban lofts and classic townhouses as well as country estates and tropical getaways.

Astley takes us on a personal tour through some of her favorite homes photographed for the magazine, going deeper and showing previously unpublished images. From actor Dakota Johnson’s relaxed indoor-outdoor mid-century modern house in Los Angeles to producer and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes’s classically elegant New York City apartment, each of these carefully considered spaces reflects the personality and lifestyle of the people who live there. Artist Mariko Mori is shown in her minimalist white pod on a Japanese island, performer RuPaul poses in his glamorously over-the-top Los Angeles villa, and Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz show us the personal side of their strikingly modern home, inviting us into their art-filled living room.

With beautiful photography by AD’s top photographers, and thoughtful, illuminating texts by Astley and her team of editors on what makes each of these interiors so special, this volume is a celebratory tour de force of design and personal expression.

Reviews

"'This project is really about showing great people at home...“There are no anonymous houses, no architectural feats, no museums—just great people in their homes. So it’s a lot of my favorite people and my favorite houses—like Tory Burch, like Margherita Missoni, like Alicia Keys, like Claudia Schiffer. They’re the people who I feel have the life force, and their house is memorable and special and really encapsulates their style, and I’m just proud that so many people let us invade their private space and record it forever for posterity.'” — AMY ASTLEY TO VOGUE

"Timed with her 100th issue, Astley’s latest book distills her nearly decade-long tenure into a curated anthology. It’s not just page after page of beautiful rooms—it’s a portrait of personalities. Marc Jacobs’s Greenwich Village townhouse, Bjarke Ingels’s houseboat, and Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’s modernist home all appear in the collection." — FORBES

"...Architectural Digest, which last month published a coffee table book “AD at Home,” featuring almost 70 celebrity homes." — CNN STYLE

"AD at Home reminds us that the best residential interiors are those that authentically reflect the people who inhabit them; it is essential reading for anyone interested in home design and how great spaces and honest living intersect." — INTERIORDESIGNMASTERCLASS.COM

"Think of AD at Home: Architectural Digest as an almanac for aspirational living. Spanning the industries of fashion, music, film, art and design, this luxe volume hints at the domestic lives of some of the world’s most glamorous celebrities, from the lush Copenhagen houseboat of Danish “starchitect” Bjarke Ingles to the California cliffside mansion of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, to basically every inch of Julianne Moore’s home, down to the Nan Goldin photograph above her bathtub. AD at Home offers endless design inspiration and more than a few tidbits you can pull out to impress guests at your next dinner party." — BOOKPAGE

"Amy Astley, editor in chief of Architectural Digest, has gathered her favorite stories from the last 10 years, with an inside look behind the design. Yes, there are wonderful photos of celebrity homes, including previously unpublished images, featuring the work of the world’s most notable decorators. But the book, “AD at Home: Architectural Digest“(sale price: $93), is really meant to illustrate how home is personal to us all, and we see the singular expression of all kinds of creative lifestyles." — MANSION GLOBAL (NYC)

"Architectural Digest has long been the magazine of choice for aficionados of both interior design and celebrity, so what could be better than a celebration of some of the most popular home tours that have graced the pages over the past 10 years? Longtime editor-in-chief Amy Astley invites readers to revisit interiors in a number of locations specially designed for superstars in television and film, music, and design, including Shonda Rhimes, Dakota Johnson, Mariko Mori, Alicia Keys, RuPaul, and more. Along with beautiful photography, each project is highlighted with reflective prose from Astley and the AD editors about the elements that make each one a triumph of both personal expression and design." — INTELLIGENCE COLLECTOR

"When Amy Astley arrived at Architectural Digest nearly 10 years ago, she sought to bring fresh life, improvisation and irreverence, and above all, celebrity glamour to the hidebound interior design magazine. This compilation of the past decade under her tenure is a who’s who of actors, musicians, designers, artists and other bold-type names, from Lenny Kravitz to Julianne Moore, Cara Delevingne to Kendall Jenner, in their ultra-luxe private lairs from L.A. to the Cotswolds to Copenhagen." — FREDERIC
