앤드류 울포드는 브리티시콜럼비아대학(University of British Columbia) 사회학 박사를 받았고, 현재 매니토바대학(University of Manitoba)의 사회학 · 범죄학 교수다. 주 연구 분야는 ‘대량학살’, 그 중에서도 ‘북미 선주민 말살 정책’이다. 공동체 주도의 탈식민화 및 다양한 인적/비인적 자원을 활용한 피해자 지원, 대표성, 공감 프로젝트를 다수 진행했다. 국제대량학살연구자협회 회장을 역임했으며 주요 저서로는 『선한 실험』(This Benevolent Experiment: Indigenous boarding schools, genocide and redress in North America), 『정의와 확신 사이』(Between Justice and Certainty: Treaty-making in British Columbia), 『비공식적 심판』(Informal Reckonings: Conflict resolution in mediation, restorative justice, and reparations 공저)이 있다.
