Being a Historian : An Introduction to the Professional World of History (Paperback)

미국사, 교육, 정치문제 등을 주제로 저술과 강연 등 다양한 활동을 하는 역사가. 프린스턴대학교 교수를 거쳐 독립적인 역사학자로서 연구와 강의를 계속하고 있다. ‘문명 프로그램과 지속교육 프로그램’ 의장을 맡고, 전국역사센터와 역사뉴스 서비스 기관을 설립하고, 전국인문연맹을 공동 창립하는 등 역사의 대중화를 위한 활동을 활발하게 전개해왔다. 지은 책으로 《하트퍼드 회의에 대하여: 매사추세츠에서의 연방주의자와 정당정치의 기원, 1789-1815(To the Hartford Convention: The Federalists and the Origins of Party Politics in Massachusetts, 1789-1815)》, 《미국의 흑인들: 서지적 에세이(Blacks in America: Bibliographical Essays)》, 《미국의 경험에 대한 이해(Understanding the American Experience)》, 《교수의 요소(The Elements of Teaching)》, 《학습의 요소(The Elements of Learning)》, 《역사가라는 것: 전문적 역사 세계의 입문(Being Historians: An Introduction to the Professional World of History)》 등이 있고, 편집한 책으로 《역사가가 된다는 것(Becoming Historians)》 등이 있다.
