18년간 영국 노팅엄 대학교(University of Nottingham)의 응용 언어학과 교수로 재직하였고, 2000년부터 2010년까지 약 10년간 이 대학의 영어교육센터(CELE)의 책임자로 활동하였다. 2017년 이후부터 현재까지 노팅엄 대학교의 말레이시아 캠퍼스에 소재하고 있는 The School of Media, Languages and Cultures(SMLC) 전공의 명예 교수로 재직하고 있다. 그녀는 국제 고등교육과 관련하여 영국 문화원(British Council)의 학교, 기술, 사회 및 고등 교육을 위한 영국 문화위원회의 주요 이사로 활동했고, 2017년부터 현재까지, Learning and Teaching 국제 바깔로레아 기구(International Baccalaureate Organization)의 교수 학습 분야의 총책임자(Chief Officer)로 활동하고 있다. 그녀는 고등교육 분야뿐 아니라 국제화 교육 분야에서 영어 교육 프로그램과 코스 개발에 영어 교육 프로그램을 개발하는 역할을 담당하였다. 주요 연구 분야는 제2언어 말하기와 쓰기 등의 표현 영역의 교수 학습 및 평가와 TESOL, 응용언어학(Applied Linguistics) 등이다. 주요 저서로는 ≪English in Speech and Writing: Investigating Language and Literature(2005)≫, ≪Spoken English, TESOL and Applied Linguistics(2006)≫, ≪Spoken English, TESOL and Applied Linguistics(2006)≫ 등이 있다.
