영국 러프버러대학교 예술대학 애니메이션 아카데미 원장이며, 이름 난 작가이자 감독, 방송인이다. 방송작가로서 <만화가 최고!(Cartoons Kick Ass)>, <애니메이션 네이션(Animation Nation)> 등의 프로그램과 다수의 드라마, 코미디쇼를 제작했으며 현재는 <심슨>과 <스폰지밥>의 작가들과 함께 작업하고 있다. 극작법에 대한 자신의 저서를 바탕으로 영국과 북미를 종횡무진하며 워크숍과 마스터클래스를 열었고, 애니메이션과 영국 영화, 특수효과 등에 관한 단행본을 썼다. 그는 30개국이 넘는 나라에서 강연을 해 왔으며, 그의 책은 12개 언어로 번역, 소개되었다. 이 책은 그의 소니워어드 수상작인 BBC 라디오 시리즈 <등골이 오싹해지는 영화들: 공포영화의 역사(Spinechillers: A History of the Horror Film)>를 발전시킨 것이다.
