메닝거 정신건강연구소의 Helen Malsin Palley 의장 겸 베일러 의과대학 정신의학과 행동과학 메닝거 분과에서 정신의학 교수를 역임했으며, 현재는 텍사스 휴스턴에 위치한 메닝거 클리닉의 수석 심리학자로 활동하고 있다. 그는 심리치료, 심리진단검사, 상담, 심리교육 과정을 실시하고 있으며, 외상 관련 장애와 우울증에 관한 연구를 하고 있다. 외상과 관련한 문제, 우울, 심리치료, 입원치료, 치료법의 제휴, 심리검사, 신경심리, 정서 등에 대해 많은 전문 논문과 책을 저술하였다.
