1.      Social sustainability literature review ? this is likely to be the first chapter and it will review current academic literature relating to social sustainability (not necessarily wine-specific literature).  This will provide an introduction to the topic for the reader and set the scene for the subsequent chapters. 

2.      Case study of Hawkes Bay wine auction for hospice (NZ wineries) ? the Hawkes Bay wine region has been holding an annual wine auction to raise money for a local hospice for many years now.  This event receives a lot of media attention.  This case study will look at the history of how/why the event started and will outline the benefits of the auction for both participating wineries and for the hospice.

3.      Philanthropy and communications (US, Spain, Germany, France, Australia & NZ wineries) ? this chapter will examine whether the wineries in six nations communicate to stakeholders about their philanthropic activities and through what method.  It will also document whether greater benefits can be achieved from philanthropy for a winery through communications.  

4.      Social sustainability in annual reports (US, Australia & NZ wineries) ? this chapter will provide evidence of whether wineries in three nations are including a mention of their social sustainability activities in their annual reports. 

5.      Sustainability and financial performance (US, Australia, NZ & South African wineries) ? this chapter will be based on Bloomberg data to determine if there is a relationship between social sustainability engagement and the financial performance of wineries in four nations. 

6.      Social sustainability in US wineries ? this chapter will focus on the contributions of wineries to the community in response to the recent Californian wild fires.

7.      Social sustainability in the Australian wine industry ? this chapter will focus on a single winery or regional industry to highlight a case study from Australia.

8.      Social-ecological exploration of wine regions (US) ? this chapter will explore the social and ecological implications of wine growing in US wine regions.

9.      Philanthropy in Old World wine nations (German & French wineries) ? this chapter will highlight philanthropic activities in wineries in two Old World wine nations.

10.  Meaning of sustainability to consumers (France & Italy) ? unlike the previous chapters, this one will focus on the views of wine consumers (rather than producers) toward sustainability in two nations. 

11.  Wine consumers’ ethical concerns (Germany) ? this chapter will also look at the views of wine consumers in terms of ethical issues.  

12.  Wine tourism and social sustainability

13. The impact of wine businesses on building sustainable communities
