May Sinclair was the pseudonym of Mary Amelia St Clair (1863-1946), an English novelist, poet, philosopher, translator, critic, and active suffragist. She was both popular and extremely prolific, writing 23 novels, 39 short stories and several collections of poetry throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As a critic she promoted the work of Ezra Pound and the Imagist poets, and the novelist Dorothy Richardson, among others.
