마이클 크로닌은 비평가이자 작가이며 방송인이다. 현재 아일랜드 더블린에 거주하고 있다. 더블린시립대학의 인문사회과학 학과의 교수로 재직 중이다. 저서로는 <경계를 넘어: 여행, 언어, 번역Across the Lines: Travel, Language and Translation>(2000), <번역과 세계화Translation and Globalization>(2003), <타임트랙: 아일랜드의 일상Time Tracks: Scenes from the Irish Everyday>(2003), <번역과 정체성Translation and Identity>(2006)이 있다. 공저로는 <아일랜드의 재발명: 문화, 사회, 글로벌 경제Reinventing Ireland: Culture, Society and the Global Economy>(2002), <아일랜드 여행: 이미지, 문화, 정체성Irish Tourism: Image, Culture, Identity>(2003), <변화하는 아일랜드Transforming Ireland>(2009)가 있다. 크로닌은 현재 아일랜드왕립아카데미의 인문학 분야 이사로 있다.
