플리머스대학 예술학부 사진문화 전공 교수다. 『장소의 감각: 유럽 풍경사진(Sense of Place: European Landscape Photography)』 외 여러 권의 저서와 편집서가 있으며, 『사진들』의 공동 편집자이기도 하다. 2004년부터 2007년까지 영국에서 열린 순회전 《동양을 마주하기: 발틱 지역의 현대 풍경사진(Facing East: contemporary landscape photography from Baltic areas)》전시를 기획했고, 그 밖에 대지나 환경과 관련된 여러 새로운 전시들을 꾸리고 있다.
