Private Power, Public Law : The Globalization of Intellectual Property Rights (Hardcover)

미국 조지워싱턴 대학교에서 국제정치학을 가르치는 교수이자 조지워싱턴 대학교 IGIS (Institute for Global and International Studies)의 디렉터이다. 국제 관계 이론, 국제 정치·경제, 남북문제의 정치·경제에 관심이 많으며, 통상 협상에서 사적 부문 행위자와 시민사회단체의 역할을 연구하고 있다. 지재권을 정치경제학으로 접근하는 몇 안 되는 학자 중 하나로 최근에는 영국의 좌파 정치경제학자인 크리스토퍼 메이(Christopher May)와 함께 지재권 제도의 역사를 비판적으로 분석해 지재권 최대주의의 근간이 되는 논거들을 공격하고 있다. 또한 의약품 접근권 운동과 지식 접근권 운동에도 실천적으로 결합하며, 최근 지재권 제도의 최대 현안으로 떠오른 ‘위조상품방지조약’이 추진되는 정치 역학을 분석하기도 했다. 저서: Intellectual Property Rights(2006), Power and Ideas(1998). 논문: “International Institutions, Intellectual Property an the HIV/AIDS Pandemic” (2007), “Reframing the Issue: the WTO Coalition on Intellectual Property and Public Health 2001” (2006), “The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights and the Access to Medicines Campaign” (2002) 외 다수.
