런던대학 로열 할로웨이의 음악학 교수이다. The Cambridge History of Nineteenth-Century Music (2002)의 편집인이며, Virtuosity and the Musical Work: The Transcendental Studies of Liszt (Cambridge, 2003)를 저술했다. 또한 그는 The Complete Chopin: A New Critical Edition 시리즈의 편집 일원이기도 하다.
