뉴욕시립대학교에서 심리학으로 석사학위를 취득했다. 고등학교에서 영어 교사로 근무하던 당시 부업으로 와인 매장에서 일하며 와인에 대한 열정과 와인 셀러를 채워나갔다. 보르도, 바롤로, 샴페인 등 애장품으로 가득 찬 와인 셀러는 그의 행복이다. 「베버리지미디어」에 정기적으로 기고하고 있다. 에드와 메리는 12권의 와인 관련 저서를 공동 집필하였으며, 온라인 와인 잡지인 「와인리뷰온라인닷컴」의 칼럼니스트로 활동하고 있으며, 두 사람 모두 공인 전문 와인강사(CWE) 자격증을 소지하고 있다.
