호주 커틴대학교 미디어·예술·사회학부 교수이자 문화와기술센터 소장이다. 머독대학교에서 호주 영화에 나타난 장애 재현으로 커뮤니케이션학 박사 학위를 받았다. 장애, 텔레비전 그리고 디지털 및 네트워크 미디어의 사회문화적 의미와 관계에 관한 여러 저서와 논문을 발표하였다. 책으로는 《장애와 대중문화Disability and Popular Culture: Focusing Passion, Creating Community and Expressing Defiance》, 《미디어와 장애인 고용Disability Media Work》, 《매드 맥스에 나타난 트라우마와 장애Trauma and Disability in Mad Max: Beyond the Road Warrior’s Fury》(공저), 《장애와 미디어Disability and the Media》(공저), 《장애와 뉴 미디어Disability and New Media》(공저), 《장애에 대한 학제적 접근Interdisciplinary Approaches to Disability: Looking Towards the Future》(편저), 《장애와 소셜 미디어Disability and Social Media: Global Perspectives》(편저) 등이 있다.
