헝가리 부다페스트에 위치한 미국계 대학원인 중앙유럽대학(Central European University)에서 공공정책학과의 학과장이자 조교수로 재직 중이다. 또한 베를린과 제네바에 위치한 글로벌공공정책연구소(Global Public Policy Institute)의 선임연구원이기도 하며, 존스 홉킨스 대학에서는 에너지·기후변화정책대학원의 겸임교수도 맡고 있다. 존스 홉킨스 대학 국제관계대학원(SAIS)과 랜드연구소(RAND Corporation)에서 근무한 경력도 지니고 있다. 에너지 안보 및 석유·가스와 관련된 국제 거버넌스에 관심을 갖고 연구를 진행 중이다. 『유럽과 러시아에서의 에너지 거버넌스의 역학관계(Dynamics of Energy Governance in Europe and Russia)』, 『국제 에너지 거버넌스(Global Energy Governance: The New Rules of the Game)』, 『석유 수입과 미국의 안보(Imported Oil and U.S. National Security)』, 『석유수출국기구(OPEC)』, 『미국, 중국, 이란의 국내 동향(Domestic Trends in the United States, China and Iran)』 등을 발간했다.
