아리프 딜릭 (엮은이) 정보 더보기

터키 출신의 미국 역사학자이다. 이스탄불 로버트 칼리지에서 전자공학 학사학위를, 미국 로체스터 대학교에서 역사학 박사학위를 받았다. 주로 중국과 아시아를 중심으로 역사, 인류, 문화, 정치 등 다방면의 연구와 저술 활동을 전개해왔다. 듀크 대학교에서 역사와 인류학 교수로 30년을 재직하고, 2001년 오리건 대학교로 옮겨 사회과학 석좌교수(Knight Professor)로 역사와 인류학을 연구하고 가르쳤으며 비판이론과 초국적 연구센터(Center for Critical Theory and Transnational Studies) 소장으로 재직했다. 그 밖에 홍콩과학기술대학교, 브리티시컬럼비아 대학교, 빅토리아 대학교, 캘리포니아 대학교 로스엔젤리스 캠퍼스, 프랑스 사회과학고등연구원, 중국 칭화대학교 등에서 석좌교수, 명예교수 등으로 재직했다. 지은 책으로 《혁명과 역사: 중국 마르크스주의 역사학의 기원 1919~1937(Revolution and History: Origins of Marxist Historiography in Chinese 1919~1937)》《포스트모더니티의 역사들: 유산과 프로젝트로서의 과거(Postmodernities Histories: The Past as Legacy and Project)》《전 지구적 자본주의에 눈뜨기(After the Revolution: Waking to Global Capitalism)》《현대 중화인민공화국 지식인들의 삶의 스냅사진(Snapshots of Intellectual Life in Contemporary, PR China)》 등이 있고, 편저로 《20세기 중국의 사회학과 인류학: 보편주의와 토착주의 사이에서(Sociology and Anthropology in Twentieth-Century China: Between Universalism and Indigenism)》《전 지구적인 것에 대한 교수법들: 인간 관심 속의 지식(Pedagogies of the Global: Knowledge in the Human Interest)》 등이 있다.

1968년 하버드 대학에서 <Vietnam and the Chinese institutional model: Nguy?n emperors and their civil bureaucracy, 1802~1847>라는 논문으로 박사학위를 받고 하버드 대학과 브리티시컬럼비아 대학에서 교수로 재직하였다. 현재는 브리티시컬럼비아 대학 명예교수로, 여전히 활발한 저작과 강연 활동을 하고 있다. 중국사, 동남아시아사, 비교사의 권위자로 방대한 사료에 대한 꼼꼼한 고증과 사회과학적인 분석력을 바탕으로 아시아의 경험을 보다 보편적인 이론으로 구성하는 가능성을 추구해 온 학자이다.
