현재 맨체스터 메트로폴리탄 대학의 문화지리학과와 사회공간변동연구소 교수로 재직 중이다. 관광, 공간, 민족 정체성, 이동성, 물질성, 계급문화에 관심을 가지고 있으며 특히 문화연구자의 입장에서 도시 공간과 일상성 분석에 집중하고 있다. 미즈 켈리Mij Kelly와 함께 <움직이는 세계Moving Worlds>(Edinburgh University Press, 1989)를 썼으며, <타지마할의 여행자Tourism at the Taj>(Routledge, 1998), <산업의 몰락Industrial Ruins: Space, Aesthetics and Materiality>(Oxford: Berg, 2005) 등을 썼다.
