영문계약서를 지금부터 배우려고 하는 사람들에게도 또 이미 해외거래 실무를 경험하고 있는 사람들에게도 크게 참고가 되도록 하는 데 중점을 두었습니다.

1장에서는 국제계약에 대한 기본지식과 해외거래 담당자로서 직면하는 여러가지 문제점 예를들면 소위 「의향서」라고 불리는 Letter of Intent의 내용을 자사의 입장에서 어떻게 읽어야 하는지 등을 설명하고 있습니다.

2장에서는 영문계약서에 잘 나오는 계약용어를 해설합니다.
예를 들면 접속사 and와 or입니다. and 에 대응하는 우리말의 계약용어는 「및」 「또」, or에 대응하는 것은 「또는」 「혹은」이 있습니다.
어느 말을 쓰느냐에 따라 의미가 크게 바뀌어 버리는 것이 있기 때문에 읽을 때의 주의사항을 설명하고 있습니다.

3장에서 5장까지는 국제거래계약의 전형적인 것으로 매매계약서, 라이센스계약서, 합자회사계약서 가운데 필자가 실무적으로 경험한 것을 다루고 그것을 읽는 방법을 해설했습니다.

이 책은 해외거래를 담당하는 직장인과 지금부터 영문계약서를 배우려고 하는 사람들에게 그 기본적인 지식을 습득하게 하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있습니다.
