WARM-UP
The Newbie
<Mark & Nic bump into each other in the staff room.>
Mark: Oh, hi! You must be the newbie!
Nic: Nice to meet you! I’m Nicola, but just call me Nic. I actually started last week, but don’t think I’ve seen you around the office.
Mark: I’ve actually been on vacation for the last couple of weeks. I’m Mark, by the way. How are you finding the job so far?
Nic: It’s great. I’m still learning the ropes, but I’m sure it’ll get easier! I’m fresh out of college, and I’ve just moved here from San Fran, so I’m still adjusting to everything. It’s been a little overwhelming!
Mark: Wow, big changes for you! I was just organizing drinks tonight to catch up with everyone from the office after my trip! I think we’ll be going to a bar around the corner at 7. Are you in?
Nic: Sounds good! I have a meeting with a client later, but I’m sure I’ll have finished by 7. Thanks for the invite!
Mark: No worries! See you later!
