MIT에서 박사학위를 취득하고, 현재 미시건대학교의 로스 비즈니스 스쿨에서 전략 분야의 부교수로 재직 중이다. Afuah 교수는 2012년 Academy of Management Review(AMR)에 발표한 ‘원거리 탐색에 대한 해결책으로서의 크라우드소싱(Crowdsourcing as a solution to distant search)’ 논문으로 최우수 논문상을 수상한 바 있는데, 이 논문은 Christopher Tucci와의 공동연구로 작성되었다. AMR은 전세계 172개의 경영관리 학술지와 116개의 비즈니스 학술지, 두 분야에서 모두 1위를 차지하고 있는 유명 학술지이다.
