1950년부터 풀러 신학교에서 신약 해석과 신약 신학 교수로 일하고 있다. 고든 대학과 고든 신학교에서 교육을 받았고(B.D.) 하버드 대학교에서 Ph.D. 학위를 받았다. 하이델베르크 대학교와 바젤 대학교에서 박사 후 연구를 하기도 했다. 미국 침례교 사역자로 서품을 받은 래드 박사는 그 교파의 몇몇 교회들을 섬겼다. 고든 대학 그리스어 교수(1942-45)와 고든 신학교 신약 부서의 학과장(1946-50)을 역임했다. 저서로는 『하나님 나라에 관한 중대한 질문들』(Crucial Questions about the Kingdom of God, 1952), 『복된 소망』(The Blessed Hope, (1956), 『그 나라의 복음』(The Gospel of the Kingdom, 1959), 『예수 그리스도와 역사』(Jesus Christ and History, 1963), 『신약성경과 비평』(The New Testament and Criticism, 1965), 『신약성경의 진리의 양상』(The Pattern of New Testament Truth, 1968), 『요한계시록 주석』(Commentary on The Revelation, 1972) , 『신약성서 신학』(The Theology of the New Testament, 1974) 등이 있다.
