저자는 중심보다는 변방(frontier)을 좋아한다. 주변 새로운 분야에 기웃거리는 것을 즐긴다. 학문에 큰 뜻은 없었으나, 때마침 신설된 충남대학교 공업교육학 박사과정에 입학하면서 공부에 눈을 뜨게 된다. 주된 연구 분야를 연결하는 키워드는 ‘기술적 창조성’이다. 부산교육대학교 실과교육과에 재직 중이며, 교육대학원 발명영재교육 전공을 개설하여 새로운 분야를 개척하고 있다는 자기만족감에 빠져있다.
