허베이성 동중서연구회 고문 / 고려대학교 교수 동서양 고전을 현대적 시각으로 해석하며 고전 읽기의 새로운 지평을 여는 대한민국 대표 인문학자이다. 고려대학교에서 교육학과 철학을 공부하고, 한국학중앙연구원 한국학대학원에서 〈사서(四書)의 수기론(修己論)〉으로 석사, 고려대 일반대학원에서 <『중용(中庸)』의 교육철학>으로 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 고려대 교육학과 교수로 재직하고 있으며, 한중철학회 회장 및 한국교육철학학회 회장을 역임했다. 논저 및 번역서로 동양학 및 교육학과 관련한 300여 편이 있다.
