Bourdieu's Philosophy and Sociology of Science : A Critical Appraisal (Hardcover)

30여 년간 서강대학교에서 사회이론, 사회과학철학, 과학지식사회학을 가르쳐왔고, 《Philosophy of the Social Sciences》, 《Theory, Culture & Society》, 《Journal for the Theory of Social Behavior》 등 세계적으로 저명한 사회과학과 철학저널에 수십 편의 논문을 실었으며, 『Explaining Scientific Consensus: The Case of Mendelian Genetics』(New York: Guilford Press, 1994), 『Discourses on Liberation: An Anatomy of Critical Theory』(London: Routledge, 2005), 『Bourdieu’s Philosophy and Sociology of Science: A Critical Appraisal』(London: Routledge, 2023) 등 세 권의 책을 미국과 영국에서 출간하였다. 가장 최근의 저작인 『Bourdieu’s Philosophy and Sociology of Science: A Critical Appraisal』은 세계과학철학학회의 학회지인 《History of Philosophy of Science》에서 “부르디외를 연구하는 학자 모두가 주목해야 하는 책”이란 극찬을 받았다. 국내에서 펴낸 책으로는 『과학지식과 사회이론』 (한길사, 2004), 『담론과 해방: 비판이론의 해부』 (궁리, 2005), 『글로벌 지식장과 상징폭력: 한국사회과학에 대한 비판적 성찰』 (문학동네, 2015), 『진리와 문화변동의 정치학: 하버마스와 로티의 논쟁』 (아카넷, 2015) 등이 있다. 미국 국무성 초청 풀브라이트 스칼러(Fulbright Scholar)에 2회 선정되었고, 2008년엔 한국사회학회 저술상을 수상했으며, 2009년엔 한국 최고 권위의 학술상인 경암학술상(인문사회 부문)을 수상하였다. 2014년 한국과학기술한림원의 정회원으로 선출되었다.
