돌봄 : 정의의 심장

미국 텍사스 주립대학교(University of Texas at San Antonio) 정치학과 교수이다. 시카고대학교(University of Chicago)에서 정치사상으로 박사학위를 받았다. 주요 편저서로는 Justice, Care, and the Welfare State(Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2015), Care Ethics and Political Theory(Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2015), Justice, Politics, and the Family(Boulder: Paradigm Press, 2014), The Heart of Justice: Care Ethics and Political Theory(Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2007) 등이 있다. 주요 논문으로는 “Mary Wollstonecraft’s Nurturing Liberalism: Between an Ethic of Justice and Care”(American Political Science Review), “Care Ethics and Natural Law Theory: Toward an Institutional Political Theory of Caring”(Journal of Politics), “Rethinking Care Theory: The Practice of Caring and the Duty of Care”(Hypatia), “The Social Determinants of Health, Care Ethics, and Just Health Care”(Contemporary Political Theory) 등이 있다.

고려대학교 행정학과 교수. 이화여자대학교 정치외교학과를 졸업하고, 시카고대학교(University of Chicago) 정치학과에서 사회적 약자의 시각에서 정의와 민주주의를 논하는 세계적인 정치철학자이자 페미니즘 이론가인 아이리스 영(Iris Marion Young)의 지도로 정치철학 박사학위(2005)를 받았다(Women’s Luck? Women’s Choice? Toward a Feminist Theory of Equality). 주요 관심 분야는 정의론, 돌봄윤리, 규범적 정책분석, 여성주의 이론과 정책 등이다. 저서 『규범적 정책분석』(2016)은 2017년 대한민국학술원 우수학술도서로 선정되었다. Critical Social Policy, Journal of Social Philosophy, Public Affairs Quarterly, Journal of Women, Politics & Policy, International Journal of Care and Caring, Ethics and Social Welfare, Women’s Studies International Forum 등에 다수의 영문 논문을 발표했으며, 『한국행정학보』, 『한국정치학회보』, 『한국여성학』, 『한국사회정책』, 『정부학연구』 등에 30편 이상의 국문 논문을 발표했다. 최근 10여 년간 돌봄의 관점에서 재정립되는 사회정의와 국가역할에 주목하여 연구하고 있다. 관련하여 다수의 역서―『돌봄지원국가』(근간, 공역), 『돌봄민주주의』(2021, 공역), 『포용과 민주주의』(2020, 공역), 『돌봄: 돌봄윤리』(2017, 공역), 『돌봄: 정의의 심장』(2017, 공역), 『돌봄: 사랑의 노동』(2016, 공역)―및 편서―『돌봄과 공정』(2018, 공편)—를 출판했다. 저널 International Journal of Care and Caring에 실린 논문 “A Caring Welfare State in South Korea: Challenges and Prospects”(2018)은 편집인의 선택(editor’s choice)으로 선정되었다. 현재 돌봄윤리 연구의 국제네트워크인 Care Ethics Research Consortium의 운영위원이며, 피터스 출판사(Peeters Publishers)에서 발행하는 돌봄윤리 저서 시리즈의 자문위원이다.
