성서에 던지는 물음표

맥코믹 신학대학원(McCormick Theological Seminary)에서 석사학위를 받았고, 밴더빌트 대학(Vanderbilt University)에서 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 버지니아유니온 대학(Virginia Union University)의 교수로 신약성서와 초기 기독교 역사를 가르치고 있다. Journal of Bible and Human Transformation과 Journal of Race, Ethnicity, and Religion의 편집자이기도 하다. 저서로 Christ’s Body in Corinth: The Politics of a Metaphor(Fortress Press), Biblical Interpretation: Theory, Process, and Criteria(Pickwick Publications), A Transformative Reading of the Bible: Explorations of Holistic Human Transformation(Cascade Books), Truth, Testimony, and Transformation: A New Reading of the “I Am” Sayings of Jesus in the Fourth Gospel(Cascade Books) 등이 있고, 2013 년에는 김진호 실장(제3시대그리스도교연구소)과 함께 민중신학을 영미권에 소개하는 Reading Minjung Theology in the Twenty-First Century: Selected Writings by Ahn ByungMu and Modern Critical Responses(Pickwick Publications)를 편집 번역하여 펴내기도 하였다.

도지개란 “틈이 가거나 뒤틀린 활을 바로잡는 틀”이라는 뜻으로, 도서출판 동연 기획회의 모임이다. 김기석 원로목사(청파교회), 구미정 교수(숭실대), 김영철 박사(인천시교육청), 김진호 이사(제3시대), 최형묵 목사(천안살림교회)가 기획위원을 맡고 있다. 기획도서로는 《성서에 던지는 물음표 – 문화 비평적 성서 해석과 오늘》(김영석 지음), 《산당들을 폐하라》(김진호 지음) 등이 있다.
