As Jumong was considered to be son of the sun and the moon and as a grandchild of Habaek, the sun and the moon symbolized the national identity of Goguryeo. Thus, every Goguryeo mural contains the sun and the moon, with the sun depicted as a three-legged crow inside a wheel and the moon represented as one or two toads, rabbits or cinnamon trees inside a wheel.
