요한계시록을 설명하기 전, 우리는 성경의 말씀이 상충되지 않는다는 사실을 믿어야 한다. 예를 들어, 사도 바울은 예수님의 재림은 아무도 예상치 못한 때에 홀연히 하나님의 나팔 소리와 함께 하늘에서 강림하시고, 죽었던 성도들이 부활되며, 아직 살아 있는 성도들은 끌어올려져서, 공중에서 예수님을 영접하게 된 후, 항상 예수님과 함께 있을 것이라고 데살로니가전서 4장 16절부터 5장 3절까지 기록하였다.

왜 요한계시록은 1장의 서두를 마치고 곧바로 2, 3장에서 일곱 교회에 보내는 서신들의 내용으로 시작되었을까? 그것은 바로, 요한계시록은 예수님의 지상 명령에서부터 시작한 교회의 복음화 역사와, 종말을 대비하는 교회의 인내의 준비를 계시한 것이기 때문이다.

Before explaining the book of Revelation, we must have a foundation of belief that the words of the Bible do not contradict each other. For example, the apostle Paul said that on the day of the second coming of Jesus He will suddenly and unexpectedly descend from heaven with the sound of God's trumpet, the Christians who died would be resurrected, the Christians who were still alive would be lifted up to receive Jesus from the air, and they would be with Jesus forever(1 Thessalonians 4:16-5:3).
