사람은 육체(flesh), 혼(soul), 그리고 영(spirit)로 구성됩니다. 한글 성경에서는 영과 혼에 대한 구분이 분명치 않아서 영혼이라는 단어로 대부분 혼용됩니다.
반면, 히브리어 성경이나 헬라어 성경에서는 혼과 영에 대한 단어가 분명히 구분됩니다. 히브리어로 영은 (רוּחַ roo'-akh ; breath, wind, spirit)로 정의되고, 혼은 (נֶפֶשׁ neh'-fesh ; a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion)으로 정의됩니다.
The human body is composed of flesh, soul, and spirit. In the Korean Bible, the distinction between spirit and soul is not clear, so the word soul/spirit is mostly used interchangeably. On the other hand, in the Hebrew Bible and the Greek Bible, the words for soul and spirit are clearly distinguished. In Hebrew, spirit is defined as (רוּחַ roo'-akh ; breath, wind, spirit), and soul is defined as (נֶפֶשׁ neh'-fesh ; a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion).

마태복음 10장 28절을 삼분설로 해석하면, 악인의 부활 후 지옥에 가는 존재는 몸(flesh/body)과 혼(soul)입니다.
악인의 영은 어디로 가는 것일까요?
If we interpret Matthew 10:28 in trichotomy, the entities that go to hell after the resurrection of the wicked are the flesh/body and the soul.
Where do the spirits of the wicked go?

이런 관점에 볼 때, 예수님의 영생의 말씀은 사람의 귀로 듣는다 해도 육과 혼이 아닌 영으로 받아들여져야 합니다. 인생에 주신 영이 거듭난 후에야 하나님의 말씀인 성경을 들을 때 영적으로 깨달아지고 그의 육과 혼도 영의 깨달음을 따라가게 됩니다. 요한복음 6장 63절은 그래서 혼과 영의 구분을 가져야 제대로 이해할 수 있습니다.
From this perspective, even if we hear Jesus’ words of eternal life with our human ears, we must accept them with our spirit, not with our flesh and soul. Only after the spirit given to us is reborn, when we hear the Bible, the word of God, will we become spiritually enlightened, and our flesh and soul follow the enlightenment of the spirit. John 6:63 can therefore only be properly understood if we distinguish between soul and spirit.
