Preface
As I approach my 88th year, I realize that I am nearing another milestone in my life. I am a great-grandfather now. Plain Stories by a Grandpa was written over 30 some odd years ago, and I am deeply moved by the publication of its sequel.
When I look back through the lens of time, I am grateful for so many things. My parents, my siblings, my friends, the army, this society and this country; I’ve had the pleasure of countless blessings throughout this life, and for that, I am deeply grateful. I bow my head in gratitude.
With all due respect, I wanted to convey some words of wisdom to the next generation of those that will follow in my footsteps. As one who was born in the Land of the Morning Calm, I think that is my duty.
I pick up my pen. My wording may sound harsh (at times) and the descriptions are sometimes crude. I wanted to rid the narrative of flowery language and obsequiousness. In truth, I wanted this to be an honest conversation between you, the reader, and me. So, bear with me.
I thank our Heavenly Father for my continued health.
