삶의 막다른 길에서 보는 세상은 회색일까. 영화 ‘자전거 도둑’의 주인공 안토니오는 자전거를 분실함으로써 다시 실업자로 전락한다. 그 모습을 상상해보니 암울한 회색 세상이 떠올랐다. 한 대의 고물 자전거는 삶을 이끌어갈 힘이고 밑천이었다. 아들의 손을 잡고 도둑을 찾아 로마를 헤매는 주인공 안토니오의 황망한 삶이 안타까웠다. 오랜만에 감상하는 흑백화면 속의 주인공이 낯설지 않은 것은 잊으려고 애썼던 내 모습이 그 안에 있었기 때문
이다.
자전거는 내 아들의 기쁨이었다. 세발자전거 타기를 필두로 네발자전거, 두발자전거, 고도의 기어가 달린 자전거로 바꾸어가며 아이는 성장하였다. 답답하거나 자연이 그리울 때 아이는 온천천을 달리고 도시의 이면도로를 달리며 마음에 새 기운을 불어넣었다. 자전거는 그의 가장 친한 친구였고 꿈이었다. 자전거 바퀴가 도는 모습을 보면 행복한 낭만에 젖게 된다. 아이의 즐거운 웃음소리가 함께 떠오르기 때문이다. 하기에 나에게도 자전거는 아이를 통해 세상을 보는 꿈이 되었다.

Will the world seen in the dead end of life be gray? Antonio, the main character of the movie ‘Bicycle Thieves’, is relegated to unemployment by losing his bike. The image reminded me of a grim gray world. One old bicycle was the strength and foundation of life for him. Antonio, the main character who takes his son by the hand and wanders around Rome to catch a thief, was too sad. It is not strange that the main character in the black-and-white screen, who has been watching for a long time, because I was in it, trying to forget the bad memories of the past associated with a lost bicycle.

The bicycle was the joy of my son. The child grew up by switching from a tricycle to a four-legged bike, a two-legged bike and a high-tech bike. When he felt frustrated or missed nature, he drove through the Oncheon banks of stream and along the back roads of the city, infusing new energy into his mind. The bicycle was his best friend and dream. Seeing the wheel spin makes me happy with romance. The happy laughter of the child comes together. So, bicycle became dream that see world through child to me.
