에너지 전문기업 '주식회사 와이피피'(YPP) 창업자이자 대표이사 회장. 1950년 전남 순천 참샘마을(현 상사면 비촌리)에서 빈농의 아들로 태어났다. 집안 형편 때문에 상급학교 진학을 포기했다가 국민(초등)학교 6학년 담임선생님의 도움으로 미션스쿨인 매산중학교에 입학했고, 이어서 매산고등학교에 진학했다. 졸업 후 상경하여 몇몇 직장을 다녔고 미국 제너럴일렉트릭(GE)사에 발탁되어 1982년 GE 전기 분야 총괄 한국대리점 '영풍물산'을 설립했다. 이후 도전과 열정의 정신으로, 전력계통 보호 시스템 및 제어 시스템을 비롯한 대규모 전력 IT 분야로 사업 영역을 확장해 나갔다. 2009년 사명을 'YPP'(Your Permanent Partner)로 변경하였으며, 고객과 직원들을 '영원한 동반자'로 존중하는 상생 경영을 펼치는 한편 'YPP 아카데미'를 개설하여 YPP의 기술 능력을 국내외 엔지니어들에게 전수하고 있다. 특히 2014년 '3중화 디지털 보호 계전기'(TRIUMP)를 세계 최초로 개발하여 국내를 넘어 세계에서 인정하는 전력 IT 전문기업으로 성장시켰다. 2023년 가산디지털단지 내에 준공한 'YPP 아르센타워'를 기반으로 다양한 사업을 도모하고 있다. 중학교 때 처음 교회에 나가기 시작하면서 예수님을 알게 되었고, 한평생 그리스도인으로서 정체성을 잃지 않고 성경적 세계관을 생활과 기업 경영에 적용하고자 애쓰고 있다. Born in 1950 in Chamsaem Village, Suncheon, South Jeolla Province, he grew up in poverty and had to give up hopes of further education. However, with the support of his elementary school teacher, he was able to attend Maesan Middle School, a mission school, and later Maesan High School. After graduation, he moved to Seoul, working at several companies before being recruited by General Electric (GE). In 1982, he founded Youngpoong Trading, GE's exclusive distributor for electrical products in Korea. Over the years, he expanded the business into large-scale power system protection and control technology, establishing YPP as a leader in the power IT industry. In 2009, he renamed the company YPP (Your Permanent Partner) to reflect his commitment to long-term relationships with clients and employees. He also founded YPP Academy to train engineers both domestically and internationally. In 2014, YPP developed the world’s first triple-redundant digital protection relay, earning global recognition in the power IT sector. In 2023, YPP inaugurated Arcen Tower in the Gasan Digital Complex, laying the foundation for new business ventures. Jong-man Bek first encountered Jesus as a middle school student and has since lived with a strong Christian identity, striving to integrate a biblical worldview into both his life and corporate management. His personal and company mottos are “Dream for a Better Future,” “Positive Thinking,” and “Life with Integrity,” and they reflect his commitment to living out God’s kingdom values through prayer and service. Even today, he continues to dream new dreams before God. Translator: Sam Neulsaem Ha Sam Neulsaem Ha is a theologian, pastor, and theological librarian dedicated to guiding students in theological thinking and research. He serves as a faculty member at Calvin Theological Seminary and Calvin University, where he teaches research methodology and topics related to Calvin, the Reformation, and Reformed theology. His research focuses on Reformation theology, particularly John Calvin’s thought. His dissertation explores Calvin’s covenant theology in conversation with Bucer, Bullinger, Zwingli, Melanchthon, Nicholas of Lyra, and Denis the Carthusian. He has also published various articles on a range of theological topics, including Luther’s conversion history, Calvin’s atonement theology, theological anthropology, and the consolation of theology. Beyond academia, Sam actively mentors seminary students and alumni, many of whom have become established scholars. He frequently speaks at major conferences on Reformation theology, theological method, and global Christianity. He is the author of A Day of Worship: Adoring God in Every Moment, a best-selling theological book in Korea. In addition to his academic work, he serves as a pastor in the Presbyterian Church in Korea (Kosin).
