The North propagates that it is the only country in the world providing free education and free medical treatments to its people. The regime touts that North Koreans are exempt from taxes, treated equally, and thus live in a fair society. I was raised to believe what the regime taught us, and I grew up to be a strong believer in communism. After 11 years of obligatory education, I wanted to attend university.
