What They Say About Shin Dong-ok

I once drew a house with breakably brilliant windows. It was too perfect for me to build on this earth, where I stand. I learned that since the house I drew cannot collapse, it cannot exist in real life. I also learned that I don’t have to draw a faraway place just because I dream of warm light. There will always remain light somewhere that cannot recede, no matter how much one tries to hide it. This book began with my intention to relive those moments when light remained in the midst of your and my lives.

Encore by Shin Dong-ok also feels like his record and song lyric of a time that he loved and fought for. It contains“ shy words of confession reaching [his] ears,” when“ [he] spreads and reads the insert” and the memories of“ days when songs of love were reverberating if I bought tangible music and turned up the volume “( Songs Requested at Noon”).” They could also be the“ words of love” and the music“ in that love” that a poet, who seems to believe that“ the love of God should eternally continue even if God dies,” insisted on recording“ ( Page-Turner”).
